Sweet Cherries Ahead Show
On November 30, Sweet Cherries Ahead premiered in Amsterdam as a hybrid cinematic and live performance event, transforming Boom Chicago into an immersive world where film, dance, and audience experience collided.
Created by Nicole Iustolin and Elena Goldberg, the project blended cinedance horror with live choreography, exploring themes of female exploitation, revenge, and reclamation through raw physical performance and striking visual storytelling. Rooted in the “Good for Her” horror tradition, the work fused cinematic projection, ritualistic movement, and a charged atmosphere that blurred the boundary between screen and stage.

The event was designed as a fully immersive experience. Audience members became part of the fictional universe, arriving dressed in 1970s-inspired style and receiving a special edition newspaper, The Daily Southern Chronicle, created as a narrative artifact from the world of the film. Hundreds of guests joined the show, turning the premiere into a collective, participatory experience rather than a traditional screening.

Spirit’n Roses choreographed the live dance performances, while Ubumuntu Production Group handled the live streaming of the event and prepared a special cinematic edit of the film, integrated between live acts to create a continuous narrative flow between screen and stage.

Following the Amsterdam premiere, the Sweet Cherries Ahead cine-dance venture is planned to continue as a touring performance, bringing the hybrid film-and-live experience to new audiences and venues.
